Ilma first came to Nimea Kaya in 2016 and has served as one of the Lead Facilitators from 2019 to 2023. During this time, she has guided many participants through transformative plant medicine experiences.

In recent years, Ilma has expanded her work to include one-on-one therapeutic support, integrating modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Compassionate Inquiry, developed by Dr. Gabor Maté. Drawing on her extensive experience with plant medicine, both personally and in guiding others, she supports clients in preparing for, integrating, and making sense of their psychedelic experiences. In addition, she offers ongoing therapy, which she recommends as a vital complementary process to psychedelic work.

Her approach is rooted in non-pathologizing, relational, client-centered, and humanistic principles. Ilma sees everyone as the experts of their own inner systems, never reducing anyone to a mere set of symptoms. She views most symptoms, whether they manifest as depression, anxiety, overwork, or addiction, as adaptive responses to overwhelming circumstances, rather than pathologies to be eradicated.

In therapy, Ilma creates a space where the goal is to understand these often unwanted parts, engage in dialogue with them, and, through compassion and connection, bring the inner system into a more balanced and resourced state.
