AYAHUASCA INTEGRATION
Successful Ayahuasca Integration will require a multifaceted approach to be able to maintain the long term benefits from working with this Medicine. As you step back into your life after your Ayahuasca experience, the integration process will continue to unfold more and more. We often say that although deep levels of healing can be reached in the ceremonies themselves, the “real work” begins post the ceremonial experience. The integration process is where you will have the opportunities to utilize the tools and teachings you were given during your ceremonies and retreat. This will allow you to release more energies and imprints that are no longer serving you to be able to let your authentic self emerge further. The spirit of Ayahuasca will continue to be with you and her medicine will continue to work with you post the retreat and into your daily life. The ayahuasca integration process may continue to unfold over several months or years, allowing deeper healing and profound realizations to come into fruition.
Nimea Kaya guests will receive an additional Ayahuasca Integration Guide after their retreat which includes extensive information, resources and recommendations that will help support the process of integrating the Ayahuasca ceremonial experiences.
Here we offer advice and recommendations to assist
you in making smooth transitions through
your ayahuasca integration process.
We hope this helps you with your path ahead!
SHARING YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH OTHERS
After completing Ayahuasca ceremonies, often participants will feel excited to share their experience with others soon after arriving back home. We do recommend some caution here as those that have not experienced Ayahuasca may have a difficult time understanding your experience and may feel uncomfortable in this new energy. If you feel that family or friends may be receptive to hearing your experience, go slow and feel out their reactions. Saying too much too soon may produce an undesired outcome. This is a very personal experience that can be difficult to explain in words. Feel free to take as much time as you need to process before sharing it with others and only share what feels comfortable to you. It is best to share with people you know you can trust that will be more open and receptive to hearing about your medicine journey.
EMOTIONAL STATES
A wide range of perceptions and emotions may be experienced after your journey in the jungle. It will be common to feel elated highs and challenging lows in your energy. This is normal and to be expected. It is during these energetic fluctuations where we learn to let energy flow and how to integrate different aspects of the self. As the medicine continues to work with you, you may experience more emotional purges, releasing old imprints and layers of dense energy. Be mindful not to think there is anything wrong with you or this process. It is necessary to feel the emotions in order to release them. Yet be mindful on how you may act upon them. Writing in a journal or talking with a trusted friend can be a good way to express how you are feeling to be able to move and release the energies more successfully. In addition, this can be a beneficial way to contemplate and self reflect so you may see more deeply where certain aspects of life need more of your focused attention and self care.
First and foremost, remember to be gentle and forgiving of yourself when you feel you have faltered on your path. We are all human and are bound to make mistakes at times. This is how we learn. Embrace introspection and contemplation yet try to remain in a place of non-judgment. Be compassionate and patient with yourself. Forgive yourself if you are feeling judgement, anger or shame towards yourself. We are not meant to be perfect yet to grow through challenges set forth in life.
Also, be cautious not to compare yourself or your process in a negative light to others that have also been working with the medicine. Everyone’s journey of healing and integration will be unique to them. You may feel your life is going smoothly for several months then all of a sudden you may have a challenging circumstance be presented to you to move through. It is another phase of learning and growth. Just like the medicine comes in waves in ceremony, so does life and its lessons. Remember, a breakdown can be an opportunity for a breakthrough!
GRATITUDE & MINDFULNESS PRACTICE
Having a consistent practice of gratitude is a wonderful way to help keep your vibration elevated. We recommend taking a few moments each day to recognize what you have in your life that you are grateful for. You can do this is a simple meditation or you can keep a journal where you can write down a list of things you are in appreciation of. The key is to truly drop down into your heart space while feeling the gratitude for each thing you are recognizing as this will allow for the heart chakra to expand and the benefits to be experienced on a deeper level.
An attitude of gratitude can make us happier, improve our self-esteem, improve our mental strength, enhance empathy, open door to more relationships, help us be more optimistic, increase our self-esteem and can help us bounce back after difficult circumstances.
A practice of cultivating mindfulness not only helps us to stay present in the moment, yet involves accepting whatever arises in your awareness at each moment. These are great opportunities for growth. Mindfulness helps us recognize our “triggers” more easily which assists in us “letting go” of challenging situations and energies more quickly. This will in turn will boost our resilience in life.
JOIN LIKE-MINDED COMMUNITIES
As you re-integrate into your life, you may feel that you do not resonate as much with certain people from your life before the retreat. After experiencing deep, profound and authentic connections with others at your retreat, you may find it more difficult to relate to others around you back home. Take the opportunity to expand your circle of friends, finding people that you feel more open and free to speak and connect with. You may be able to find other like-minded people that live near you through various Ayahuasca Integration Circles and Meetups online. You can also join a yoga studio, attend meditation classes or other spiritual based activities in your community.
SELF CARE
Self-care is a vital aspect of the integration process. You essentially just went through an energetic “surgery” and the after care you give yourself will help ensure a smoother transition as you move back into your life. If you can take a period of time after the retreat to decompress before going back to work, that could be additionally beneficial. If you are not able to, just be sure to set aside some personal time for yourself each day to center and ground.
MEDITATION
A consistent practice of meditation, even for just 10-20 minutes a day can help tremendously. If you have a challenging time quieting the mind, start with listening to soothing music or follow a recorded guided meditation. There are a myriad of benefits from meditation such as decreasing stress, depression and anxiety while improving energy levels, focus and emotional intelligence. Regular meditation reduces the resistance between your third dimensional self and your multi-dimensional self, thereby making available to you, more clarity regarding your path in life.
EXERCISE
It is very important to move the body. Energies and emotions can get stuck in the body and can effect our moods and perceptions of life. Moving the body will move stuck energy. We recommend exercising ideally at least three times a week. Whether you enjoy resistance training, cardio, yoga, martial arts, or just a brisk walk. This will help cleanse your not only your physical body yet your emotional and mental bodies as well.
HEALTHY DIET
First, be sure to continue the Ayahuasca diet recommendations for the length of time indicated. Continue to incorporate more whole foods and plant based foods into your diet. Organic is always best. Better to invest now in your health than to have to pay for it later. If you eat meat, try to only eat organic free-range meats. Stay hydrated with purified water as this will also continue to flush out toxins and cleanse the body. Remember – our gut health directly affects our moods! A probiotic may be beneficial to add to your routine as well. Yet, be aware you may need a specific type for your gut needs. BREATH WORK
As we have learned in ceremony, our breath is one of our most powerful tools for moving energy. This is a great practice to continue to use in your life for further healing and maintenance in the body. Conscious breathing practices can produce more oxygen in the brain and also allows more toxins to be cleansed from the body. Benefits can also be found in the reduction of depression, anxiety, stress and PTSD. Our breath is our life force and adopting breathwork practices can bring longevity to our lives. NOURISHING RELATIONSHIPS
Spend more time with people that are in alignment with your path and less with those that are not. It is common for your circle of friends to change post ayahuasca. It is ok to gently let go of friendships that no longer serve you and this in turn will make space for you to develop new relationships with those that resonate with your new outlook on life.
NATURE
Spend more time in nature. Go for a walk barefoot in the grass. Whether your time is spent in a neighborhood park, at the beach or in the forest, mother nature will help ground you and bring more harmonious and balanced vibrations into your being. Nature is medicine! Spending time outside in nature uplifts our energy and serves as a great anti-depressant!
CREATIVITY
Explore a new creative hobby or delve deeper into a creative outlet you already enjoy. Expressing a new part of yourself, allowing yourself to expand more and more. Explore painting, writing, dancing, drawing, cooking, sewing, making music, ceramics, etc. Don’t be afraid to try something new. Don’t let age or prior experience deter you either! Live your highest passion and joy!
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
After the ceremonial work you may feel waves of heightened energy or waves of deep exhaustion that may last for days and sometimes even weeks. Make sure to allow yourself the time and space to rest when you need to. This is really important as this is often when deeper integration and re-calibration takes place. Move energy through exercise, breath or guided meditations. Listen to what foods your body may or may not need anymore. Always drink plenty of purified water!
EXPAND YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS
There are a variety of ways to expand your consciousness. Explore new books, podcasts, courses, retreats and conscious conversation with new friends. SMALL STEPS FOR LASTING TRANSFORMATION
We often receive deeply profound messages and teachings in our Ayahuasca ceremonies and can feel super excited to begin implementing new habits and ways of thinking into our daily lives. For some, these new changes can come more easily. Yet for most, it is a process that is typically slower so that long lasting transformation can be achieved. If one tries to change too fast and then makes a mistake, they may feel like they just can’t do it at all and will go back to their old ways of being. Be gentle with your self and set small and short-term goals to start. For example, often people want to change their diet post ayahuasca. Perhaps you want to start eating more vegetarian or plant based. Begin trying to eat that way 3 days out of the week. Then try for more when you are ready. This can be the same for implementing a new exercise or meditation practice. It can be difficult to stay fixed within any one particular way of being 100% of the time. Give yourself flexibility and always forgive yourself when you may be having disapproving and negative thoughts towards yourself.
SHADOW WORK
As a human being on the path of self development and spiritual growth, we have an innate duty to embody a sincere adult maturity. This requires living through mindfulness, respect and compassion for ALL things. Here we take accountability for all of our actions and decisions. We understand that there is a “ripple effect” that is produced by our own vibration, reaching far and wide and affecting all of those around us. We stay mindful of staying grounded enough in our daily life so we don’t get too lost in the ‘higher realms’ to the point of falling into spiritual bypassing. This is where the “Shadow Work” comes into full practice where one must be able to dive deep into self introspection.
The Shadow is a term used to represent the disowned and unexamined parts of the self that tend to surface as impulsive tendencies towards negative habits and thought patterns. One must be daringly honest in their observations of self to change the areas in their life that no longer serve the person they wish to become. Check in with yourself about the decisions you are making. Do they align with your truth? Are they serving your highest good? These are opportunities to drop in and face particular aspects of the Shadow to be integrated and ultimately new ways of relating to situations in life will be adopted. LET GO OF FEAR AND TRUST
During ayahuasca ceremonies, one must learn what it means to let go of fear and how to trust the process. This is such a powerful tool that is beneficial to implement in our daily lives as well. It is inevitable that one will still face challenges in life and this where where opportunities lie for the greatest growth and healing. These challenges will have varying levels of hardship yet the key is trusting in the process enough to let the emotions and pain pass through without taking on unnecessary suffering. Often difficult situations arise in our lives as a way for us to release more unneeded energies. Trying to avoid or bypass painful emotions will just result in them being lodged somewhere in the body to only have them resurface at a later time to clear.
We are in exciting yet challenging times right now. This incarnation we chose to take in this life is a very special one indeed! We are witnessing mass changes on our planet and within humanity. Ayahuasca has gifted herself to the masses in this day and age so that we may heal ourselves and help heal the whole. So, take advantage of all situations and experiences that come your way as a means to heal and grow more expansively. What we perceive, we receive!
We are all much more powerful than we think. Having more joy, abundance and balance in our lives is possible. Yet, we also must have our core beliefs and mental patterns in proper alignment in order for us to receive these. As we move into higher vibrations, manifestation will become easier. Collectively, we have enormous power and potential in creating a beautiful and harmonious planet to live on. As more of us awaken and clear the denser energies that reside in us, the lighter energies will ripple outwards, reaching the masses. Keep believing in yourself! Keep loving yourself! This is one of the most exciting and meaningful lifetimes to experience.
